The body of the house is elevated, shielded on three sides by a wooden shell. The shell is cut into the hill. The neighborhood has a park-like quality of tree density and varied terrain, but this specific site has boundary pressures that force urban considerations as well. The tight site and steep slope create a compressed relationship with the street and adjacent lots.
