BÖÐVAR LEÓS
Mysterious and humorous, with mixed techniques and a wealth of politically charged subject matters, the works of Bodvar Leos represent an ongoing search for freshness. He is an artist/illustrator born 1956 in Reykjavik, Iceland. His burning interest in drawing and art led him to study at the Icelandic School of Arts and Crafts in Reykjavik, where he graduated in 1981. After this, he worked briefly with advertising and graphic design agencies in Iceland until he opened his own studio in Reykjavik. His commissioned work is extremely varied and includes comics and artwork for various papers, magazines, advertisements and companies around Reykjavik city. His 15 years of work has produced a volume of creative drawings and artwork, some of it familiar to all Icelanders. His works have been published in Iceland main Reykjavik newspapers such as Morgunbladid, in various magazines, as well as in children's education books. For many years he was the weekly political commentator for the leftist Vikubladid, where he poked fun at the social scenarios in the Icelandic society. Das Boot here shows a selection of his works, which varies from very strange designs to comics and paintings. His media ranges from pencil drawings to acrylic paintings to computer drawings. |
